This is YOU

The following is a personality analysis of you based on the type of website you go on, the type of computer you have (e.g. Macbook, Windows Vista etc.), your screen resolution and amount of time recorded on the internet. On this basis, an automated analysis of you is shown in bold below.

You have a need for other people to like and admire you, and yet you tend to be critical of yourself. While you have some personality weaknesses you are generally able to compensate for them. You have considerable unused capacity that you have not turned to your advantage. Disciplined and self-controlled on the outside, you tend to be worrisome and insecure on the inside. At times you have serious doubts as to whether you have made the right decision or done the right thing. You prefer a certain amount of change and variety and become dissatisfied when hemmed in by restrictions and limitations. You also pride yourself as an independent thinker; and do not accept others' statements without satisfactory proof. But you have found it unwise to be too frank in revealing yourself to others. At times you are extroverted, affable, and sociable, while at other times you are introverted, wary, and reserved. Some of your aspirations tend to be rather unrealistic.

The paragraph about it being an analysis based on your computer habits is a complete lie. This is known as the Barnum Effect. An average score of 4.26 was gained on a scale from 1 to 5 (1 being least likely and 5 being the most likely to the reader's personality). Is it applicable to you?

Many participants have been fooled into thinking that psychologists are actually able to analyse and work out people's behaviour so easily, and most importantly, so accurately, but everyone was given the same text! How odd...

A lot thought this was a personal account of their personality that the psychologist was able to work out so effortlessly....

Perhaps we all have similar personality traits?

That's precisely why I point out to everyone not to believe everything that they think.

We have learned that you can't trust the superinformation highway and that it has to be true if you read it in the newspaper or see it on T.V.

Unbiased reporting like on the FOX network.

In reference to the last comment, I would like to point out that in fact, as it says already in the text, that the personality analysis you see in this article is not an analysis based on your computer, but is the text used in the Barnum Effect experiment.
